French Week kicks off with half-marathon

The France-Vietnam Friendship half-marathon will take place this Sunday morning, officially kicking off the start of French Week in HCM City.

In addition to the half-marathon, there will be a 10km, 7km and 3km races as well.

According to organizers, some 3,000 athletes from around the world are expected to participate in the event including some professional runners.

The race will begin at Le Duan Boulevard and will weave through the city's main thoroughfares including Dong Khoi, Ham Nghi, Tran Hung Dao, Nguyen Van Cu and Dien Bien Phu.

Prizes totaling VND50mil will be presented at the end of the event.

There will be a number of other activities scheduled from April 6 to 12 in recognition of French Week including a photo exhibition by Nicolas Cornet at the Fine Arts Museum, fashion show, fairs and a friendship football match between retired French and Vietnamese players.
